The answer would be 5,000. These distinctions turn out to be much more sizeable when youngsters start school. For example, some pre-educated 5 or 6 year old kids in first grade will have an expressive vocabulary of upwards of 5,000 words, while others may deliver just half the same number of words. Over the school years, the normal understudy will learn a huge number of new words every year, adding up to a few new words a day.
