Patient with diabetes mellitus could develop neuropathy that will make their skin receptor dull. The receptor of pain will become less sensitive, makes them at risk for hurting themselves without knowing it.
Walk around barefoot is dangerous because the patient might step on a sharp object without realizing it. Long toenails can hurt the feet when the patient use shoes
