Laws were passed to help indusrty. Police back then would help start up the U.S industry. The government began investing in internal improvements such as: roads and canals. After the War of 1812, England made prices from all factories very low to kill the American industry.
The protective tariffs were designed so as to promote American industries and give the economy a much needed boost after the war.
