Write the equation of the line that passes through (–1, 5) and has a slope of 3 in point-slope form.

y - 5 = 3 ( x + 1 )


The equation is y - b = m ( x - a ) with b being the y-value, a being the x-value and m being the slope. You can just plug in the values.
