Two thirds of a number x : [tex] \frac{2}{3} *x[/tex]

Two thirds of a number x decreased by 5:
[tex]\frac{2}{3} *x - 5[/tex]

Two thirds of a number x decreased by 5 is 9:

[tex]\frac{2}{3} *x - 5=9[/tex]

now solve for x:

2/3 x = 9+5
2/3 x = 14
x = 14*3/2
x=21

I hope I helped you.
