If f(x) = x2 + 2x + 3, what is the average rate of change of f(x) over the interval [-4, 6]?

The average is given by

fav = f(a) - f(b)/a-b

f(-4) = 11
f(6) = 51

fav = 51 -11/-4 -6 = -4
