If you are talking about chemistry (Which in itself i think you are tlking about when you say dissociation) then it can be considered any process which involves braking of any kind of bonds. Like breaking covalent bonds. If you are talking about another thing, Dissociation can be applied to a person or a group who falls apart from a bigger entity or group. Maybe someone who emancipates himself to live on his own and he does not want to see his family again. I think this can help
