what is the limit as x approaches negative infinity of (1.001)^x ...?

To answer this question we need to know that because x will always be negative, it is the same as saying lim as x approaches infinity of 1/(1.001)^x. That is why we can say that the denominator will get bigger and bigger, making the fraction and therefore the limit closer and closer to 0.
