Two monosaccharide units are put together through the process of dehydration synthesis. This is when a hydrogen and oxygen from one monosaccharide molecule, combine with a hydrogen from the other monosaccharide molecule, creating a water molecule. This bonds these two molecules through the removal of two hydrogens and one oxygen.
