The time it will take for the velocity of the ball to be zero m/s is calculated below,
                                    Vf  = Vi - gt
where g is acceleration due to gravity which is equal to 32.2 ft/s². Substituting the known values,
                                       0 = 48 ft/s - (32.2 ft/s²)(t)
The value of t is 1.49 s. The total number of the ball in air is twice this value. Therefore, the ball spent 3 s in air. The answer is letter A.
