External radiation therapy is used to kill or combat against cancer cells. The source of this energy is from a linear accelerator, a machine which is the source of the radiation. This linear accelerator produces high energy x-ray beams which can even penetrate within tissues to destroy the cancer in the tumor area. This treatment is done regularly.
