In "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens the heavy slab in the story falls when the rope is cut by the sultan.

Pip refers to this metaphor of the heavy slab taken from "Tales of the Genii" to show how he is so much in love with Estella that he has even lost his life. He has no power on his heart.
