Being a good citizen means fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of an individual to the larger group or nation. If one benefits from the nation, then one is obligated to support it through taxes. Taxes also allow for the maintenance and continuation of the state. Every citizen is responsible to do their part in this framework. These powers are enumerated in Section 8. Clause 1 of the Constitution which gives Congress the power of taxation.
