To find the slope of this line, first pick out two points on the line.  We'll use (1,4) and (-1,3).

Using this information, you can find the slope with the slope formula: [tex]m=\frac{y_{2}-y_{1}} {x_{2}-x_{1}}[/tex]

In this problem, x1=1, x2=-1, y1=4, and y2=3.  Now, plug in and solve:

[tex]\frac{3-4}{-1-1}= \frac{-1}{-2} =\frac{1}{2}[/tex]

The slope of the line is 1/2.

Hope this helps!
